Ammonia

Ammonia has a wide variety of industrial and commercial uses. Ammonia itself is used as a fertilizer, as an ingredient in alkaline cleansers and as a refrigerant gas. It also has many industrial applications and is used in the manufacture of:

• Fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate amongst others
• Nitric acid, which in turn is used to produce plastics, dyes and explosives
• Cyanides, which are used to manufacture synthetic polymers and to extract gold from its ore
